STANISLAW II: (1732-1798) Stanislaw August Poniatowski. Last King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania 1764-95. Lover of Catherine the Great, he was a great patron of the arts, but still remains a controversial figure in Polish history. Bold black ink signed clipped piece `Stanislas Auguste Roy´, as King, the signed oblong 5 x 1.5 piece has been neatly affixed to a larger sheet. Matted in black, easily removable, beneath a 5 x 7 photograph of Stanislaw II, the image being a painting reproduction of the King in a full length pose, to an overall of 8 x 12 (20cm x 30cm).
