PHILIPPE II, DUKE OF ORLEANS: (1674-1723) Regent of the Kingdom of France 1715-23 until King Louis XV attained his majority. Son of Philippe I, Duke of Orléans and younger brother of King Louis XIV. A good L.S., `Philippe d´Orleans´, one page, 4to, Paris, 30th November 1721, to Cardinal of St. Agnes, in French. The Duke, in his capacity as Regent, states in part `I have received with an immense pleasure the assurance of your friendship which you have made testimony of on your letter dated 12th August, and for what abbot Passerini has forwarded to me on your behalf..´ With address leaf, addressed to `Monsieur the Cardinal of St. Agnes, my Cousin´, bearing two very attractive red wax seals, showing two laureate coat of arms, with remnants of green silk ribbons. Small overall creasing. G
