[ALFONSO XIII]: (1886-1941) King of Spain 1886-1931 & [VICTORIA EUGENIE OF BATTENBERG]: (1887-1969) Queen Consort of Spain 1906-31, wife of King Alfonso XIII. A solid silver antique pill box, with a 1.5'' diameter, most likely issued to commemorate the marriage of King Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg in 1906 and featuring an image of the royal couple in profile head and shoulders poses together to the lid. With various hallmarks to the base alongside the maker's mark of Martinho. VG King Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg were married at the Royal Monastery of San Jeronimo in Madrid on 31st May 1906. The wedding was marred by an assassination attempt on the royal couple by a Catalan anarchist.
