FERDINAND VII: (1784-1833) King of Spain 1808, 1813-33. A.L.S., Fernando, one page, 4to, Madrid, 30th August 1822, to his nephew Carlos Luis, in Spanish. The King thanks his nephew for the letter received the 3rd of August, and expresses his joy learning that his wife feels much better after the difficult childbirth. Further referring to the poor health that his third wife, Princess Maria Josepha Amalia of Saxony, is experiencing, states `..my wife is not improving, she´s even worst with her nervous convulsions, the seizures are now affecting her head; it is more than a month now that she has not been out of home..´ At the time of the present letter, the Queen consort was only eighteen years old. With blank integral leaf. The letter bears a very attractive 1814 watermark featuring an image of King Louis XVIII of France to one page and a Royal coat of arms to the second. Some very light age wear and four neat slits and stains, for epidemic prevention, affecting partially the text and the signature, otherwise G Princess Maria Josepha Amalia of Saxony (1803-1829) Queen Consort of Spain 1819-29. The young Queen died in Aranjuez at the age of 25 as a result of fevers.
