Accompanied by the original envelope wrapper hand addressed by Hardy to Bastard at the steam vessel Flamer at Falmouth and signed ('T M Hardy') by Hardy to the lower left corner. With a good red wax seal to the verso. Some light overall dust staining to the envelope, otherwise VG Lieutenant Richard Bastard had entered the Royal Navy in July 1798 and was present at the Battle of Trafalgar.
