PERRIN JEAN BAPTISTE: (1870-1942) French Physicist who verified Albert Einstein's explanation of the Brownian Motion and confirmed the atomic nature of matter. For this achievement he was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1926. Scarce T.L.S, Jean Perrin, one page, 4to, Paris, 29th June 1938, to Monsieur de Fontenay, in French. The letter bears the printed heading ''Ministry of National Education - Scientific Research''. Perrin acknowledges good receipt of his correspondent´s letter recommending Miss Maleprade, and states in part `We can predict that Miss Maleprade will be appointed for the new period 1938-1939 as technical-aide under M. Lacroix. Regarding the possibility of employing her at the National Centre of Scientific Research we won´t be able to consider this until the new decrees will be issued…´ Folded, with small overall age wear and creasing.
