FEDIN KONSTANTIN: (1892-1977) Russian Novelist. Autograph Statement signed, `Const. Fedine´, one page, oblong 4to, Leningrad, 3rd March 1926, in Cyrillic. Fedin states in full `The vocation of painters consists of preaching humanity unceasingly. It consists of disdain towards injustice; it consists of compassion towards misery. In our times all this must be reduced to one (?), we must struggle with the possibility of a new war, even more cruel and meaningless than the 1914 War.´ A very interesting premonitory thought by Fedin, long before WWII.
