LUMIERE LOUIS: (1864-1948) French Pioneer Filmmaker, along with his brother Auguste. T.L.S., Louis Lumiere, one page, Bandol, Var, 11th August 1943, on his Villa Lumen personal printed stationery, to Monsieur Raymond Langlois, in French. Lumiere refers to his correspondent´s letter dated 4th of October, Mr. Langlois being the President of the Association of Scientific Creators, and states in part `Although I approve the reasons you invoke to improve the fate of the inventors, I will not be able to support your request which is based on a statement of reasons which contains a dithyrambic appreciation of my own person, you will easily understand.´ About EX
