VG Stanislavski's correspondent may have been Elizabeth Reynolds Hapgood (1894-1974) the renowned Russian translator and Soviet culture lecturer who worked as an English translator for Stanislavski. Stanislavski was recuperating in Nice at the end of 1929 and at the same time began work on a production plan for William Shakespeare's Othello. Stanislavski's plan for this work represents the earliest exposition of the rehearsal process that became known as his Method of Physical Action.
