OSCAR II: (1829-1907) King of Sweden 1872-1907 and King of Norway 1872-1905. A.L.S., Oscar, one page, 8vo, Honnef, 16th May 1896, to an unidentified Count, in French. The letter bears at the heading a very attractive embossed monogram of King Oscar, beneath a golden crown. The King states in part `I know your situation and I am interested in it. But as I will not be able to intervene in the way indicated on your letter, I think that you should rather meet the President or the competent Minister, and I will be happy for whatever they will be able to help you with.´ Further referring to his health saying `My convalescence keeps on progressing satisfactorily thanks to the good fresh air and the excellent care of the Queen
