CHARLES VI: (1368-1422) King of France 1380-1422. Called ''The Beloved'' (`Le Bien-Aimé´), and also ''The Mad'' (`Le Fou´). Charles was son of the King of France Charles V, known as ''The Wise'', of the House of Valois, and of Joan of Bourbon. He was Heir to the French throne after the death of his three elder brothers before he was born, and held the title Dauphin of France. He inherited the throne of France when he was only 11 years old. An extremely rare D.S., Charles, one page, oblong 4to, velum, Paris, 19th May, n.y., to Guillaume de Menillon and Guillaume de Champeaux, in medieval French. The document being a letter of credence given by Charles VI, King of France, to his counselors and Knights Guillaume de Menillon and Guillaume de Champeaux, stating in part `De par le Roy, Chiers et bien amés Nous envoions présentement par delà noz améz et féaulx Guillaume de Menillon chevalier notre chambellan et maistre Guillaume de Champeaux maistre de noz comptes noz conseillers Ausquelx nous avons chargiés vous dire exposer..´ Countersigned with remnants of a former seal to the verso. Overall age wear, toning and creasing, with three very small holes not affecting the text or signature. Small repairs to the verso. About G
