BARBIROLLI JOHN: (1899-1970) British Conductor and Cellist. Barbirolli is well remembered as conductor of the Manchester Hallé Orchestra which he helped saving from dissolution in 1943 and conducted for the rest of his life. An admired conductor of English Composers. A good and unusual signed and inscribed 8 x 6 photograph, the attractive image depicting Barbirolli in a close-up pose, baton in hand, conducting. Signed and in blue pencil, and inscribed to the flute soloist of the Budapest philharmonic orchestra, and dated 1963 in his hand. G to VG
