GOUNOD CHARLES: (1818-1893) French Composer. A.L.S., Ch. Gounod, three pages, 8vo, Paris, 1st September 1881, to Mr. Berger, in French. Gounod states in part `I have tried to meet you yesterday morning to ask you if you could make a favour to me and to my family, tomorrow Wednesday evening, attending by telephone to an audition of my ''Faust''.´ Together with CAMILLE SAINT SAËNS (1835-1921) French Composer. A.L.S., C. Saint-Saëns, three pages, 8vo, Paris, 12th April 1892, to Mr. Berger, in French. Saint-Saëns states ´I was told yesterday evening at the Français how kind you were towards myself during the awards ceremony at the Conservatoire…´ further saying `You know that I am not one of the two who abandoned you at the last moment; I remained loyal to you till the end.´ Also including AMBROISE THOMAS (1811-1896) French Composer. A.L.S., Ambroise Thomas, one page, on a small 8vo telegram, Paris, 2nd May 1890, to Georges Berger, in French. Thomas states in part `Would you, my excellent friend, come to meet me today at the Conservatoire at any time? The few minutes we will have we would send the letter to the Elysée. Or maybe you prefer writing it yourself and send it to me if I have to sign on behalf of the Committee?´ Extremely small overall age wear and creasing.
