COUBERTIN PIERRE DE: (1863-1937) Charles Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin. French Educator, Founder of the International Olympic Committee. Widely known as the father of the modern Olympic Games. Rare A.L.S. `P.C´, one page to a postcard, Lausanne, 12th August 1929, to Hector Barbe, in French. Coubertin explains that he has just received his correspondent´s letter and states in part `I have the hope to meet you on Saturday but have not been able to respond to you in time that I was waiting for you. I will leave again in a few days. I congratulate you for having achieved this project of summer camps which are real temporary health factories..´ Post-stamped and postmarked to the verso. With two binder holes only partially affecting two words, and not the signature. Small overall age wear and toning. G
