SAMUEL COX, WORCESTR. A LATE 17TH CENTURY EBONISED EIGHT DAY LONGCASE CLOCK. The rising hood with barley twist columns on a slender trunk with a moulded edge and glazed lenticle on box base raised on bun feet. The 10”gilt brass dial has winged cherub head spandrels and foliate engraved border, with a silver chapter ring surrounding a matted engraved centre with a seconds dial and calendar aperture. Fronting an eight-day weight-driven movement with five thinned knopped pillars and anchor escapement, rear-mounted count wheel striking on a bell. (197cm high )
