Wilhelm Amandus Beer (1837-1907), pupil of Anton Radl, studied at the Städel Institute under Becker and Steinle, then in Antwerp and Paris. After several stays in Russia he worked in Frankfurt since 1870 and was professor at the art school of the Städelsches Institut there from 1897 until his death. Wedding ceremony of a crowned royal couple in a sacral interior, with a Russian Orthodox priest, surrounded by simple people. White heightened pencil drawing, signed lower right, Beers' estate stamp on verso, horizontal and vertical fold mark, 18 x 28.5 cm, framed behind glass and passepartout 32.5 x 42 cm
