A BRONZE PAIR OF MOUNTED WARRIORS, SIGNED GUILLEMIN, 19 C.
A pair of mounted warriors, one with a spear and shield who appears to be representing an Egyptian, and the other with a bow who appears to represent a Persian. The Egyptian is wearing a sort of Khepresh headdress which is only depicted on royalty in Ancient Egyptian art. His shield has many pseudo-hieroglyphics across its surface. The Persian is wearing scaled pants and a circular chest plate as armor. Both pieces are signed on the base by the famed Orientalist sculptor Émile Coriolan Hippolyte Guillemin.
France, 19th century.
Dimensions: H: 18 in., (45.7 cm.)
Condition: Very good overall, clean, with a nice patina.
