A PAIR OF VIKTOR TILGNER SIGNED GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED HUNTERS ON MARBLE BASES, 19TH CEN.

A pair of gilt-bronze sculptures of mounted noblemen during a hunt, produced by famed Austrian sculptor Viktor Oskar Tilgner. One of the riders has a falcon perched on his hand, while the other is holding a large 'cor de chasse' or 'hunting horn' in his right hand. The horses, dressed as well as the riders, are rearing in dramatic fashion. Both pieces are marked at the bottom with 'AUSTRIA' and a triangular stamped mark with the letters 'A E G' at the corners and 'RM' at center.

Austria, 19th Century.

Dimensions: 11 in., (27.9 cm.)

Condition: Very good overall. Gilding still bright. Some subtle signs of cracking on bases.
