A CHRISTIAN BRONZE AND ENAMEL RELIQUARY, 19TH CENTURY
A bronze and enamel box in the shape of a reliquary shows various scenes from Jesus' life, including his birth and his carrying the cross down the road to Calvary, among other scenes. The interior and bottom of the box is lined with red, floral-patterned fabric.
Europe, 19th century.
Dimensions: 6 x 3 x 6 1/2 in., (15.2 x 7.6 x 16.5 cm.)
Condition: Lid slightly bent at hinge and corner. Metal with signs of oxidation throughout. Interior lining frayed and worn in some places. Enamel bright and colorful.
