An Important Silver Hanukkah Lamp, Berlin, First Half of 18th Century
Upright lamp on a square base supported by four rampant lions, each leaning on a cartouche. Central cylindrical staff applied with gallery of foliage forms. The branches have alternating flowers and knops with hand cut designs. Each of the eight bead form oil containers is backed by a fruit basket with flying bird, the central lamp-form servant light is fitted with a pendant bell. The finial is a scrollwork gallery centered by the figure of Judith. Fully marked on several parts, maker’s mark: M.R.
