Early Greek antefix (roof tile) with woman´s head. - Early Greek antefix (roof tile) with woman´s head. Late Daedalic Style, end 7th - early 6th century BC. Height 21,1cm and with stand 23,9cm, width 18,8cm and with stand 20cm. Mould formed terracotta made of coarse slightly pink clay with reddish sprinkles, on the surface white engobe and remains ot dark colour. On the front side the head of a young woman with sphinx-like face and archaic smile. She has a pearled hairdress with three braids at each side. At the top of the head, she is wearing a broad polos. Important object of early Greek sculpture! At the back the imbrex is broken, otherwise intact, mounted on a nice black marble stand.
