Askos of the Gaudo Culture with silver cross. - Askos of the Gaudo Culture with silver cross. Chalcolithic, 1st half 3rd millennium BC. Height 12,1cm, length 17,4cm. Dark brown impasto. Oblong vessel with small stirrup handle and large spout. On handle, spout and bulge below the spout engraved decor. On the frontside two silver stripes arranged in form of a cross. With certificate of Galerie Günter Puhze, Freiburg, Germany! Large part of the handle and a small part of the spout are missing and retouched, surface partially rubbed off and retouched at few areas, otherwise unbroken. From a private collection in Geneva before 1993 and published in the catalogue of the exhibition The Art of the Italic Peoples from 3000 to 300 BC in Geneva.
