JIMMY DOOLITTLE FIRST DAY COVER
(1896-1993) American military general and aviation pioneer. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for personal valor and leadership as commander of the Doolittle Raid, a retaliatory air raid on some of the Japanese main islands on April 18, 1942. Signed FDC 'J.H. Doolittle' in blue ink. FDC for the 'New Regular 8 Cent Air Mail' with four 8 cent air mail stamps, postmarked Washington DC March 21, 1944.
