Critical edition bringing together two texts from the Brazilian colonial period, originally printed in 1601: the Naufragio by Afonso Luiz Piloto, an account of a shipwreck on the Brazilian coast, and the Prosopopeia by Bento Teyxeyra (c. 1561-1618), an epic poem in octave rima regarded as the first literary text in the history of Brazilian literature. Text established from the 1601 edition, with introduction, notes and glossary by Professor Fernando de Oliveira Mota and preface by José Antonio Gonsalves de Mello.
