THIRD edition of the translation into Spanish of the classic by Dioscorides. BEAUTIFUL Castilian edition of the classic work of Dioscorides “De Materia Medica”, the first and main source for the history of medicine in Greece, Rome and other peoples of antiquity. Altogether, it presents about 600 plants reproduced in the text, forming the main body of European pharmacopoeias until the 16th century. XIX. The reference that we find at the entrance to the Elephant is curious, which, in addition to the engraving that has the coat of arms of Portugal on the back, highlights the fact that many of the elephants existing in Europe at the time were brought by Portuguese from the East. VERY RARE.
