Albin Baranowski (1874 - 1959) Oil on board, sogned lower right, measures 10 x 20 inches and 12.5 x 22 inches w/frame. Albin Baranowski painted a number of generic sub-tropical Florida landscapes while living in Miami in the early 1940’s. He was still there in November 1950 when the Miami Herald noted he was a supervisor, with Martha Williams, of an Artists Mart at 633 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach, and that the mart would remain open until May. The Akron Beacon Journal, Akron, Ohio, January 6, 1930, noted, “Professor Albin Baranowski of Grodek, Poland painted a portrait of the Akron Chief of Police.” In 1932 the George Washington Bicentennial Celebration chose Baranowski’s portrait of Washington as the official picture reproducing it on exhibition banners. is obituary in the Detroit Free Press, November 24, 1959 reads, “Baranowski, a Polish born artist, was noted for painting on velvet, a technique he learned in Krakow.” Born: 1874, Russia. Died: November 21, 1959, Detroit, Michigan. Exhibits: West Palm Beach, February 1933,
