A Caucasian ”Kama” Dagger and Scabbard. Russian Empire, 19th century. - Item details Description A Caucasian ”Kama” Dagger and Scabbard. Russian Empire, 19th century. This 19th-century Caucasian kindjal, or kama, is an example of bladed weaponry produced during the Russian Imperial era. The elongated, double-edged steel blade is adorned with etched floral and vine motifs. Two parallel fullers on each side of the blade. Significantly, the base of the blade retains a visible remnant of the Imperial Russian coat of arms, specifically the double-headed eagle. The hilt is constructed with dark, polished grip scales secured by two prominent silver dome-headed rivets and a central silver-mounted plaque. Its accompanying scabbard consists of a wooden core bound in black leather and accented by silver-mounted fittings. On the reverse of the scabbard’s silver locket, a hand-engraved inscription identifies either the master craftsman or the original owner. The weapon measures approximately 57 cm in total length.
