Very important Indo-Persian Saber Shamshir with Wootz Blade by Asadullah Isfahani, 17-19th Century. - Item details Description Very important Indo-Persian Saber Shamshir with Wootz Blade by Asadullah Isfahani, who was the swordsmith to Shah Abbas of Persia in the 17th century. An exceptional exampleIndo-Persian sabre, featuring a deeply curved wootz steel blade with visible crystalline patterns typical of high-quality forging. The blade bears fine gold inlaid calligraphic cartouches. The hilt is composed of a traditional Indo-Muslim style grip with an elaborately chiseled and embellished gold koftgari crossguard and pommel. The grip slabs, of bone, are delicately engraved with floral and geometric designs that echo the decoration of the scabbard fittings. The scabbard is covered in finely tooled leather and adorned with iron, gold-decorated mounts, including suspension rings and a richly ornamented chape. A true collector’s piece, this shamshir embodies the refined elegance and metallurgical excellence of Indo-Persian arms.
