The badge depicts a horseman in ceremonial Circassian dress with a whip in his right hand. The badge is framed by a crescent moon with the inscription ”Groupement Tcherkess” (Circassian regiment, group). The badge was worn on the chest on the right pocket of a blouse or jacket. It is known that the French General Collet, who commanded the Circassian regiment and enjoyed great respect among the Circassians, for which he was even nicknamed ”the Emir of the Circassians”, wore this badge on his uniform all his life.
