Rare Forged Italian shield with a spike in the middle, circa 1570. - Item details Description Rare Forged Italian shield with a spike in the middle, circa 1570. Round, forged shield of steel, convex with flat brim; the central faceted spike with a base in the form of two rosettes of leaves. The edge has been turned under, roped, and bordered with brass rivets over brass washers. Four brass rosettes with steel rivets, that secured two hand straps from the reverse.
