Rare small sword, richly decorated with engraving and gold, France, 1750-1780. - Item details Description Rare small sword, richly decorated with engraving and gold, France, 1750-1780. The steel, triangular blade is decorated with engraving, blue and gilded. A steel hilt chiselled in low and high relief with scrollwork and vignettes with flowers and gold plated bottom background. The wooden handle is wrapped in a spiral with silver wire and a gilded ribbon. The scabbard is made of leather. The upper and lower fittings of the scabbard are made of steel and decorated in the same style as the hilt. A very ornate small sword, rarely seen in a complete set.
