Knife of the class ranks of the Forester Corps, model 1898, Russian Empire, early 20th century. - Item details Description Knife of the class ranks of the Forester Corps, model 1898, Russian Empire, early 20th century. The steel blade is straight, tetrahedral in cross-section with a displaced central rib. The blade is decorated with etched ornaments on plant and hunting themes. On the base of the blade is the inscription “E&F. HORSTER//SOLINGEN”. The hilt consists of a handle with a pommel and a cross. The handle is cylindrical. The pommel is figured, made in the form of a stylized eagle's head. The guard is metal, straight, with figured ends, made in the form of stylized swan heads. The scabbard is wooden, covered with black leather. The metal fittings of the scabbard is gilded. At the mouth and holder there are movable rings for attaching to a sword belt.
