A cigar box made of bone, with the monogram of a member of the Imperial family. Austria, 1870 - Item details Description A cigar box made of bone, decorated with the monogram of a member of the family of the Austrian monarch, possibly the brother of Emperor Franz Joseph I, Archduke Ludwig Viktor Joseph Anton von Österreich. The box is decorated with an engraving with a monogram under the Imperial Crown and the date on the reverse side 1870-1871. Austria, 19th century. A magnificent artifact from the family of the Austrian Emperor. Archduke Ludwig Viktor Joseph Anton of Austria (15 May 1842 – 18 January 1919) was the youngest child of Archduke Franz Karl of Austria and his wife Princess Sophie of Bavaria, and as such was the younger brother of Emperor Franz Joseph I. He had a military career, as was usual for archdukes, but did not take part in politics. He is well-known for his art collection and patronage as well as philanthropy.
