Cappadocia Vessel by Tutu Tugce Sonmez created in 2022 Clay, Glaze Artwork Signed located in London
Hand-built stoneware sculpture in glaze.Removable top part/cap.Part of Cappadocia series. In my Cappadocia series I started making vessels while dreaming about my visits, memories and the unforgettable sights of Cappadocia. I let the clay take shape as my mind was taking a journey between fairy chimneys and the Red Valley during a Cappadocia sunset.' ARTIST BIO Tutu Tugce Sonmez, a Turkish-born artist, has journeyed from Izmir to Los Angeles, East Lansing (Michigan), and Istanbul, and now calls London home, where she has established her creative studio. Holding degrees in Marketing and Studio Arts from Michigan State University, Tutu?s academic background enriches her artistic perspective and informs her engagement with the world.?From her London studio, Tutu explores the depths of human emotion and the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, creating work that invites profound personal connection and introspection. Her art encourages viewers to delve into their own emotional landscapes, engaging with themes of the human psyche, subconscious, well-being, and existential questions. While her work remains deeply personal, it also raises awareness of global concerns, particularly environmental issues, inspiring dialogue and a sense of responsibility within her community.
