JSF12a 75th Ann No. 32 sqn multiple Signed 5, Battle of Britain, VC, Pilots etc. 15 Jun 91 BFPS 2293 75th Aniv. of Formation of No. 32. Sqn. Flown Gazelle. Personally Signed by Lt. Gen. Baron Mike Donnet WWII prisoner of war. Escaped stole a plane from the Germans and flew to England. Became Spitfire and Mustang pilot and led the fighter escort on the attack on the Gestapo Headquarters in Copenhagen, Avis Hearn awarded M M for Bravery during Battle of Britain whilst under stuka attack on poling radar station Aug 1940. John Booth 600 and 23 Sqdn's Sqn Blenheim's Battle of Britain Air Gunner. Flt. Lt. W. Reid VC Victoria Cross holder. 61 Squadron RAFVR. Awarded the VC for bravery during a raid on Dusseldorf Germany on 3rd November 1943. Despite being severely wounded, continued to fly his damaged Lancaster bomber to bomb Dusseldorf. Managed to land his aircraft safely upon return. Squadron Leader Jock Maitland, flew fighters during the Korean War and the Suez and Oman conflicts before developing the wartime Battle of Britain airfield at Biggin Hill into a successful civil airport. During his pilot training in the United States, the Navy decided that his eyesight was not adequate and he returned to Britain to complete his flying training with the RAF. He was then posted to Palestine to join the Spitfire-equipped No 32 Squadron. The disturbances in the region had escalated, and the Spitfires provided close air support to the Army in the field. When Britain relinquished her Mandate on June 30 1948, No 32 moved to Nicosia in Cyprus. Back in Britain, Maitland flew Meteor day fighters with No 247 Squadron before volunteering for duties with the USAF. On his return from Korea, he became an instructor at the Day Fighter Combat School. In June 1956 Maitland was given command of No 249 Squadron, based in Amman, Jordan, flying the Venom fighter-bomber. He left England in his own private light aircraft, a single-engine Proctor and en route to Jordan landed at his old fighter base at Abu Sueir in the Canal Zone, which he found teeming with MiGs. He was immediately detained for three days under suspicion of being a spy, and the British air attaché had to arrange his release. Good condition.
