The Complete Works of William Hogarth: In a Series of One Hundred and Fifty Steel Engravings from the Original Pictures with an Introduction Essay by James Hannay and Descriptive Letterpress by The Rev. J Trusler and E F Roberts, published by The London Printing and Publishing Company Limited, undated edition (likely circa. Mid to Late 19th century). William Hogarth (1697-1764) was an English painter, engraver, pictorial satirist, social critic, cartoonist and art critic. Hardback, 201 pages, approx 24.5 x 31cm. Nicely bound hardback with gilt edging on all three page edges, raised bands and a gilt stamped title on the spine. Shows signs of rubbing wear on corners / raised bands and the front cover is almost detached (see photographs), otherwise the book is in good condition. nice book but cannot definitively date issue and front board almost detached.
