The History of Cheshire published by John Poole, Chester in 1778, two volume set. The full title of these books is very long (see photographs) and informs us that these books were written with considerable extracts from Sir Peter Leicester's Antiquities of Cheshire and observations from writers such as Pennant and Grose and covers a complete description of the County of Cheshire with all its hundreds, seats of the nobility, gentry and freeholders, rivers, towns, castles and ancient buildings. A very interesting set of hardback books each approx 13.5cm x 21.5cm. Volume one has a detached cover and both volumes show signs of age / wear but are otherwise in a good / fair condition (see photographs). good set and retail around £280 but volume one has a detached cover...market will decide.
