Richard Hunt is known for his abstract figural and nature themed biomorphic sculptures and sketches, and he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. While still a student, Hunt's work Arachne was purchased by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where in 1971 he had a solo exhibition.
Since then, Hunt has become a prolific public sculptor with many of his works on display not only in museums including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art but also on the streets of Chicago and other American cities.
