Rest of knights and bathers at a stream
Oil on canvas, cm. 35,5x44. Framed
The painting is accompanied by the expertise by Ferdinando Arisi. The typical compositional model of Flemish origin depicting the rest of knights, is shown in the painting proposed here through formal solutions that orient the attribution to the Dutch painter Philips Wouwerman. The cut of the composition with the large wings on the sides and the position of the horses with respect to the figure standing in the center of the composition, recall the same scenic construction of the Knight and Beggars at the Landesmuseum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte in Oldenburg in Germany. The next lot, of which the same attribution is proposed, can also be compared to the same work.
