THREE PAINTED AND LACQUERED WOOD SCULPTURES OF BUDDHA China or Korea, Ming dynasty The three figures seated on a lotus flower pedestal in the dhyanasana position, one with the hands in dyanamudra , the other two respectively with the right and the left hands in karanamudra and the other hand lying down with the open palm, the three Buddha wearing a long wide robe laced just below the partially exposed chest, the faces carved with a meditative and serene expression with a tiny urna in the forehead and the hair arranged in curls around a domed usnisa, the three sculptures painted and lacquered in naturalistic tones, to the back of each a niche. 100 cm high each Provenance: ambassador Francesco Rausi.
