About the company:
Cartier Jewelry House was founded in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier in Paris, the company remained under family management until 1964. It has its headquarters in Paris, although it is wholly owned by its Swiss subsidiary, the Richemont Group. Cartier operates more than 200 hundred stores in 125 countries, including three temples (historic houses) in London, New York and Paris.

About the designer:
The panther story at Cartier began in 1914, when the house launched a watch with a black and white diamond pavé on the bracelet that resembled the colour of a panther. The model was presented to the public by the young heir of the jewellery empire Louis Cartier. As fate would have it, in the same year, just before the outbreak of the First World War, he met Jeanne Toussaint, nicknamed La Panthère, who would play one of the key roles in the life of both the jeweller and Cartier. Jeanne, a veritable gem of Parisian bohemia, so impressed Louis Cartier with her taste that she was immediately invited to work for the jewellery company. By 1933 she had become the artistic director of Cartier and had a major influence on the development of the brand and its signature style. Owing to her the panther-inspired collection of jewellery and accessories was born.
