Desperate Plea Letter from Lubavitch Rebbe "Rayatz". To Save his Youngest Daughter, and Son-in-law. Riga 1940.

This is a heart rending letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn [known as the "Rayatz"]. A desperate plea to save his youngest daughter, Shaina, and son-in-law Rabbi Mendel Horenstein from being deported.
The letter, which is signed by the secretary [For some reason the Rebbe himself didn't sign], is on the Rebbe's official stationery, and addressed to Rabbi Chanoch Hendel Havlin (Rosh Yeshivah of Torat Emett). The Rebbe pleads to arrange certificates for them.
Unfortunately Rabbi Menachem Mendel & Sheina were still trapped in Poland when the United States declared war on Japan in December, 1941. All contact with them was lost. They perished in the gas chambers of Treblinka. Hashem Yinkom Damam
