A LEADED COPPER OPENWORK MOSQUE LAMP OR PERFUME BURNER ENVELOPE
Iran, Ca. AD 11th - 12th century AD . A leaded copper alloy mosque lamp, or candle holder of a broad form. The openwork lamp exhibits an inverted piriform body resting atop a circular base and has dozens of fluted panels lining the lower body and eight discoid panels with intricate geometric motifs perforated throughout the body. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum Object Number: 1975.314.Size: 230mm x 160mm; Weight: 1.3kgProvenance: Property of a London Islamic art specialist collector; previously in a collection formed since the 1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
