Apollo Art Auctions is proud to announce the ?Fine Ancient Art & Antiquities ? The Prince Collection? sale. Commencing on the 26th of January at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction showcases a spectacular array of antiquities from the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval and Western Asiatic cultures ranging between 6000 BC to 1600 AD. The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform. The auction boasts items from the Prince collection from lot 1 to lot 261, as well as other incredible provenances such as the collections of Jacques Carre, Naji Asfar, Eric Strobel, Georgia Chrischilles, Louis-Gabriel Bellon, Khawam brothers, Kurt Flimm, Leo Mildenberg, Xavier Guerrand-Hermes, Gaston Maspero Archaeological Fund, Elsa Bloch-Diener, Mrs B. COLLECTION OF EGYPTIAN FAIENCE AND STONE SCARABS
Ca. 1550 - 30 BC. A collection of four scarabs, the first and four scarabs have an elongated almond shaped body. Beneath the domed insects are hieroglyphic inscriptions. The second has a domed squared body with hieroglyphic inscription on top and on the verso; the third has domed top and the goddess Hathor engraved on the verso. A suspension hole is drilled lengthwise through the body, for mounting on a necklace or a swivel ring. Size: 15-19mm x 45604mm; Weight: 6g. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Private collection 1970s-1990s.
