The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. MESOPOTAMIAN CREAM STONE STAMP SEAL WITH HORNED ANIMALS - ORIGINAL LAMBERT REPORT
Ca. 3000 BC. A cream stone stamp seal. A hemispheroid pierced horizontally. It has a depiction of three horned animals. Accompanied by a signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert. Size: 46mm x 46mm; Weight: 64g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formerly with a Mayfair Art dealer S.A.; Ex. 1990s London collections, studied and catalogued by professor Lambert in the early 90s (with original note, signed by him). Previously in an old British collection formed since the 1960s.
