The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. EGYPTIAN AMETHYST SCARAB IN GOLD RING
Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A gold swivel ring set with a deep violet-purple amethyst, oval-shaped scarab. The upper body of the scarab is intricately carved, displaying detailed motifs, while the underside remains flat and unworked. The accompanying gold ring consists of a minimalistic, thin round-section hoop, embellished with three decorative ring elements. A curved frame securely holds the scarab in place. Size: D:13.67mm / US: 2 1/2 / UK: E; Weight: 8g. Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
