PAIR OF TERRACOTTA OIL LAMPS WITH DECORATED HANDLES
Ca. AD 400 - 500.A pair of Levantine terracotta oil lamps with pointed oval bodies and prominent decorated handles. At the top, the lamps have a large hole with a double rim surrounded by a stylised motif. The handles have a moulded decoration depicting lines. On the back, the lamp, on the left, is adorned with phytomorphic motifs around its discoid foot.Size: 110-110mm x 62-62mm; Weight: 255gProvenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s.
