ANCIENT BRONZE SWORD WITH STONE POMMEL
Western Asiatic/Aegan, Ca. 1200 - 700 BC.
An extremely fine bronze sword featuring a sharp blade with a prominent midrib. The round-section hilt with two circumferential ribs for a better grip extends to a triangular-shaped guard. The grip swells into a large D-shaped stone pommel which balances the weight of the weapon. Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old Canadian collection formed in the 1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
