Travel Poster Paquebot Antilles French Line. Original vintage cruise travel poster featuring a cut-out design of the CGT French Line transatlantic ocean liner Paquebot Antilles showing the interior and deck layout and features of the ship including the swimming pool on the sun deck and cabins, dining rooms, bars and lounges, the storage areas and classic cars being transported for the passengers, the engine rooms and flags flying on the masts with the information text below and principal characteristics on the side. Artwork by Michel Lezla (1930-1989). Launched in 1951, the SS Antilles served the West Indies cruise route until she hit a reef near Mustique in 1971; all the passengers and crew were rescued from the fire by the Cunard Line ship Queen Elizabeth 2 and the wreck is still visible during low tides. Founded in 1861 (having been established in 1855 by the brothers Emile and Issac Pereire), the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique CGT was a French shipping company known as French Line and Transat; it merged with Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes de Marseille in 1976 to form the Compagnie Generale Maritime CMA CGM. Large size. Horizontal. Very good condition, creasing. Country of issue: France, designer: M. Lezla, size (cm): 48x120, year of printing: 1953.
