Travel Poster New Orleans Illinois Central Railroad . Original vintage Illinois Central Railroad travel advertising poster for New Orleans. Fantastic image depicting some of the characteristic elements of New Orleans - the famous Steamboat Natchez in the foreground and a plantation tree and colonial building in the background - with an elegant young lady wearing a pink dress and holding a fan on the side, the text above and below in stylised letters. The Illinois Central Railroad (aka the Main Line of Mid-America) operated train services from 1851-1998 from New Orleans and Mobile to Chicago with branches to Omaha and Sioux City; in 1998 it was acquired by the Canadian National Railway. The first Steamboat Natchez was built in 1823; the current Natchez is the ninth steamboat of the same name built in 1975 operating services on the Mississippi River.
